As an island nation, Taiwan has abundant coral reef resources. Unfortunately, coral reefs around Taiwan are endangered and threatened due to overfishing, habitat destruction, pollution and climate change. . Hence, the 2009 ReefCheck aims to call for the attention of "health ocean, community action" from local communities as well as volunteers island-wise to conserve the underwater treasures of Taiwan.

Content / Schedule
The 2009 ReefCheck calls for the volunteers!! Diving volunteers are going to work with communities at 6 sites around Taiwan to help locals understand their hometown ocean and to accumulate the marine monitoring data.
You are the one to Save the Reef! The only requirement is to be an <Advanced Diver> or above.
There are two types of Reef Check actions:
◎ Reef Check：Conducting simple but scientific monitoring method when enjoying the scuba-diving，1~2days，there are 4 sites for Reef Check：
A. East-North coast: one-day ( 5/23; 5/30; 6/13 ) - Finished!
▪ Deadline: 3 weeks before each Secession
▪ Event Fee: NT $800
B. East islands: Green Island & Lanyu: three-days
◎ Reef Check Working Holiday：Having an unforgettable underwater vacation by combining scientific monitoring and local cultures: 3~4 days, there are 2 sites for RC-Working Holiday:
A. Penghu Island: 4-days
- Orginal at 7/17-20, Now, extenstion due to Typhoon!
▪ Event Fee: NT $8800
B. Taitung Shanyuan Coast: 3-days
- Call for the diving volunteer!
▪ Event Fee: NT $6000

【Qualifications】Advanced divers who sign up as a group with the diving instructor.
【Activities fee】The fee includes tutorial, basic insurance, and part of boat rental/equipment (not including foods, transportation, and accommodation). The fee varies depending on different action locations.
